About Ryan McGuire

I graduated from the University of Buffalo in 2005 with a degree in graphic design and moved to Bristol, CT in 2007 after receiving a position with ESPN where I was responsible for creating and playing out graphics for live-on-air shows such as SportsCenter, Baseball Tonight, College Football Live and ESPNews. I then headed south to sunshine and warmer weather relocating to Raleigh, NC in 2009 to work with Blackboard/Alertnow. There, my portfolio was strengthened with the creation of all print media and collateral, working with web and video production.

I accepted a position as the lead designer at Peace College in 2010 where I led the branding concept and style guide both during and after the school’s transition from a college to a four-year university, now known as William Peace University. Not only did I design all University collateral and marketing materials, I also designed the University basketball floor and collaborated with Under Armour to design the university’s athletic apparel. Additionally, I received the 2013 CASE Inspire Grand Award in the category of Design for Print and Digital Periodicals for the complete redesign of the university magazine, Peace Bulletin.

TrainingIndustry Inc. in Cary, NC, brought me aboard full-time in April of 2013 to handle all of their branding and design work. I redesigned everything from their logo to their quarterly magazine that won a 2015 APEX Award for Most-Improved Magazine. I also designed and branded their annual conference (TICE 2014/2015), their training programs and worked with their multiple clients to develop infographics, collateral and web graphics.

In June of 2015, I took on the role as Senior Web and Graphic Designer for COMPAREX, with the responsibilities of creating and managing the brand for the United States and Canada that included the corporate website, print collateral, social media, HTML emails and landing pages.

I accepted a contract job in May of 2017 with SAS to design the UI/UX on the company intranet. It was a great challenge updating and modernizing the InsideSAS pages resulting in a clean and responsive, user-friendly experience for employee utilization, that could not have turned out much better. On top of user interface designs, I also worked with SAS marketing in the creation of numerous designs, layouts and marketing materials for SAS Global Forum 2018 (Denver).

With my contract job coming to an end, I was fortunate enough to find an amazing career opportunity with Cree in Durham, NC. I am currently the design team lead for corporate marketing for Cree and Wolfspeed. On top of creating an all new dual branded style guide, creating all new collateral, digital assets, CEO presentations, infographics and signage for campuses worldwide, I also directly hired and manage a junior designer.

On top of working full-time, I also enjoy being the Creative Director of Ryan McGuire Designs as it allows me to work one-on-one with clients and expand my horizons as a designer. Some of my work includes: logos, advertising, brochures, business cards, wedding invitations, calendars, photography and much more.
